a prayer
for those of us searching for home.
The feeling of acceptance,
a hug, concern beyond the superficial ceremony
May God bless you
with arms that understand
your lonesome heart.

For some of us there are bruises
make-up can’t make believe away

bedrooms, sheets and sleep
in cardboard castles
clutching our memories
fading photos
that seem more dream
more wish,
more empty place settings at thanksgiving
more empty mailboxes
more furious

“WHY, did you for leaving me here, alone”

more vanity in the heart
more self centered melancholy
but sometimes it’s hard to shake away the sorrow
at night alone when the world is quiet
the ghosts visit
the grey creeps into our submission
& home seems a million miles away…
